Let me tell you the story about Opie – he is an American Bull Dog mix. Opie ended up at the city shelter (BARC) when he was abandoned by his owners who were evicted from their home. This little guy was in a sad shape when we found him in the shelter. He was absolutely skin and bones, was trembling with fear and had the saddest look on his face. When he realized that we were there to give him a treat, he perked up and happily gobbled the tasty morsel. We were brokenhearted that we had to leave him there another day before we could rescue him. His time was up because he was considered ‘unadoptable’ by the shelter. We knew that underneath all of his misery there was a special little guy. The next day we returned to pull him out of his misery. You should have seen the smile on his face when he saw us appear again at his kennel door. It was priceless!
The first orders for Opie was to get him home, give him a much needed bath, feed him a good meal, and have him examined by a vet. Opie was the most perfect little gentleman through the whole ordeal. Afterwards he pulled himself up on the nearby loveseat and settled down for a long nap. He must have known that he was safe at last.
Opie is now in a wonderful foster home where he can regain his health and recover from the trauma he has been through. Already Opie enjoys walks with his foster sister, Dixie and even gets along with the cats in the household. It will take some time and patience for the healing to be done. Certainly this little boy deserves a very special place – if you are interested in being that special place, please fill out the application and we will be in touch to set up a time for you to meet Opie
