Meet Ms. H-A-V-V-A (Turkish for lady or eve). She is an Anatolian/Pyrenees mix. When I first saw this little girl, my heart sank – she was in such bad shape – she had no life about her. I could not even tell how old she was. HAVVA was rescued from a local shelter where her time was absolutely up and she had contracted a serious upper respiratory infection. She had nowhere to turn but to a rescue group. With the help of some caring volunteers, she was rescued and brought to us to recover from her illness.
Rail thin at 49 lbs. with very little hair, HAVVA had no appetite because she was so congested. The only food we could get her to eat was grilled chicken breast and that she had – all that she could eat. After a few days of stuffing medications down her, HAVVA announced that she had enough. She was ready to eat on her own and all we had to do was add her treatment to her food. From there it was uphill for her – she quickly transformed into a bundle of energy and it was easy to see that she was actually a youngster. Now she trots everywhere she goes. There is no slow walking for this girl; she now has places to go. She wants to run and play and do all those things that she has missed.
HAVVA was picked up as a stray on the streets – so we do not know much about her past. We do know that she has a bubbling personality and lots of energy. She is growing her hair back and has a beautiful full white coat with hints of tan. HAVVA is slowly putting on much needed muscle and getting stronger every day. She is scheduled for her spay surgery soon and has been fully vetted.
Right now, HAVVA needs a place to call home – even a foster home would give her the much needed love and attention that she deserves.
